Schwarzman Scholars Program 2027 Overview
The Schwarzman Scholars Program is a fully funded, one-year Master’s degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders, the program selects up to 200 scholars annually from around the world. Students reside at Schwarzman College, engaging in an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on leadership, China studies, and international affairs while gaining first-hand experience with China's political, economic, and technological landscape.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Background: Must hold an undergraduate/Bachelor's degree (in any field) from an accredited college or university prior to program orientation.
- Age Limit: Must be at least 18 years old but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their enrollment year (for the 2027 intake, born after August 1, 1998).
- Language Proficiency: Must demonstrate strong English language proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS scores required if English is not the primary medium of instruction).
- Core Qualities: Demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential, strong intellectual capacity, exemplary character, and the ability to anticipate and adapt to global trends.

Required Documentation
- Complete online application form (submitted entirely in English)
- Resume / CV (2-page maximum)
- Academic transcripts from all higher education institutions attended
- Three (3) letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees
- Two (2) formal essays:
- Leadership Essay: 750 words maximum
- Statement of Purpose: 500 words maximum
- Video submission: A short self-introduction video (maximum 1 minute)
How to Apply

- Complete the online application and upload all required transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, and video submission.
- Submit the completed application prior to the regional deadline (U.S. and Global applicants typically close in September; China-passport applicants close in May).
- Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in regional selection interviews in late October or early November before an international panel of leaders.
